THE FAMILY HOMECOMING
Our inn was the original home of the DeLorimier family starting in the 1930s. George Delorimier, Sr.and his wife Virginia resided here and raised their 9 children. Over the weekend the three surviving children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren came home. This was a very historic event for us and Pacific Grove in general. As member of the family toured the home, remembering how grandmother had sat in the dining room surrounded by her books and telling the many grandchildren about the history of this Montreal family, the memories came flooding back. Over 100 members came together for these two days from all parts of the country. On Saturday, when the family gathered in the afternoon for the family photo we served grandmother's famous brownies that even got approval of the youngest child raised here (he is 91). The staff was delighted in being able to host this monumental celebration.
Welcome to our Inn...July 30th, 2010
What fun last night at the innkeeper hour. The flags of Ireland and Scotland are flying proudly in front of the inn, in preparation for next weeks Monterey Highland Games, although I have flown them full time since arriving. A couple from Dublin, traveling down the coast, happen to drive by and see their nations flag on an inn and decided to stop. They, of course, stayed the night and were joined by a couple from Berlin, another couple from London, and several others from here in the states including New York and southern California. My assistant innkeeper had prepared the afternoon wines and snacks much to the delight of those who were not prepared for the bill of fare we extend during the late afternoon innkeeper hour.
Breakfast at 9 this morning was especially fun with having hometown guest and I decided to delight them with fresh melon, pineapple, and my sweet toffee strawberries to start. Had to do the apple and rosemary boiled sausages, my four cheese egg puffies, and carmel banana flips which are a cross between a pancake and crepe. All were quite delighted
